AccessHE Online Project – Two new courses: Photography and Mathematics

March 11, 2016

Work has commenced on two further online courses. Kingston University London and the University of West London (UWL) have joined forces to produce a Photography course targeted at KS4 learners. Students will learn about the world of photography covering the main areas of photojournalism, editorial and fine art photography. The key skills taught on photography courses in HE will also feature, such as visual languages, copyright, storytelling and ethics.

UWL is also developing a mathematics short e-course for students in Year 11 upwards. The preparatory mathematics course will explore algebraic principles, differential, integral calculus and descriptive statistics.

Dr Anastasia Sofroniou, Senior Lecturer (Mathematics) at UWL (pictured) who designed the course explains ‘there will be exercises within each session so that the learner can work through them in order to develop their experience in problem-solving. Progress tests will also be provided at appropriate points in the course. We hope this course will assist students to gain the necessary knowledge required to enter into HE study in subject areas that have a substantial mathematical component.’
