Year 9expo4

During AccessHE week, we were pleased to run two collaborative expo events for students. Across the events, AccessHE brought together over 100 learners from schools and colleges across London to learn about the spectrum of HE options and hear from our member universities.

The events were targeted at students with the potential to benefit from higher education (HE) who come from under-represented backgrounds, including those from lower socio-economic groups, those from disadvantaged backgrounds who live in areas of relative deprivation where participation in HE is low, looked after children and disabled students.

On Monday 4 July 2016, current Year 12 students focused on studying Higher Education outside of London whereby a selection of universities provided potential university applicants the opportunity to learn more about studying away from home. The event aimed to help them to understand more about the benefits and challenges of studying outside of London.

Year 9 students then heard from different institutions on Wednesday 6 July 2016 where they learnt more about the opportunities available and the benefits of HE. Students were encouraged to think about the different elements of HE including Money, Academic, Social and Health. The photo above shows some of the Year 9 students participating in one of the interactive workshops.
