AccessHE Online project update

June 30, 2017

Over the past 12 months AccessHE has been developing AccessHE Online, a suit of online courses, aimed at learners in year 9 and above, in partnership with various member HEIs. Each course is unique: one aims to explain the university application process through short videos and quizzes, another aims to provide an insight into sociology at degree level through videos, reading and essay exercises, and another explores chemistry at degree level through a specifically designed game platform.

The suite is now entering the final stage of development with some courses complete or approaching completion and others in their piloting stage with local schools. Our hope is to complete all pilots and launch the project in full in the early part of the next academic year. While the initial plan is to launch these course in ‘under-engaged’ schools through a classroom-based, blended learning approach, the final aim of the project is to produce a sustainable, free-to-air platform which is accessible to all.
