20 March 2017
The AccessHE BAME forum will look to support the progression and success in HE of London students from Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds. This meeting, the first of the forum, will build on the success of the AccessHE Prepare to Succeed Conference in December 2016. This is an extremely important part of the access to HE agenda in London and specific focus on it via AccessHE is perhaps overdue. Over half of students entering HE from London come from BAME backgrounds yet the differences in outcomes for these students compared to what they should be need addressing and participation rates by BAME group vary greatly. The aim will be to have a structured but open discussion about what the forum should aim to achieve. Please see an agenda for the meeting.
The first meeting will be chaired by the Head of AccessHE Dr. Graeme Atherton, but it is the intention that we will seek a chair from the AccessHE membership after this meeting as with the other action forums.> Book this event
