Looked After Children Forum

This event is now over, you will find a summary below.

As we start a new academic year, this forum started by looking at the New Starts report launched by Unite Foundation and Stand Alone.  This report provides a comprehensive picture of estranged students studying in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.  A speaker from the Unite Foundation gave a to talk to colleagues about the report from a London perspective and discussion continued about how HEIs can support students who have taken the difficult choice to leave a dysfunctional family network.  This meeting’s topical discussion looked at HEIs’ use of care leaver ambassadors and work delivered to support care leavers’ personal statements and application references.  The group then considered their objectives over this academic year and the outcomes they wish to achieve.
