Care Experienced and Estranged Students forum

In May, AccessHE is launching a report on supporting access to higher education for unaccompanied asylum seeker children. This report, entitled Falling through the cracks: enabling access to higher education for unaccompanied asylum seeker children, is a product of discussions at the forum around the support needed for other, more specific groups, who fall into the looked after children category. This forum meeting on 9 May presents an opportunity for colleagues to hear more about the report and discuss its findings, thinking especially about how their institutions are responding to the needs of UASC learners. Attendees may also wish to talk about the potential for the forum to develop collaborative work in this area to meet some of the recommendations outlined by the report.

We will round off the meeting by hearing from our partners around the table about the work they have been doing recently to support the students covered in the forum’s remit, along with hearing short updates on the rights and entitlements document and planning for next year’s life after university event.

Please see a draft agenda for the meeting.

If you cannot attend or send a colleague in your place, apologies can be sent to Jack Abbotts at jack.abbotts@londonhigher.ac.uk.
