New chair for our Steering Group

The AccessHE Steering Group is made up of representatives from our partner higher education institutions, further education colleges and schools. In the latest meeting of the group, which took place this week, we welcomed new chair Professor John Raftery, Vice-Chancellor of London Metropolitan University.

There was a feeling among attendees that AccessHE is moving into an exciting new phase, which was reflected in the discussions about new additions to the AccessHE team. We have recently welcomed Kay Zantis as our AccessHE Uni Connect Schools Officer, who is already helping to deliver our Uni Connect Programme and next week we will be joined by Sam Turner who will help drive forward the work of our Action Forums.

As well as discussing the new composition of the staff team, the Steering Group was also given an update on the progress of the Uni Connect with schools in Barking & Dagenham and Havering, together with updates on other ongoing projects, such as the AccessHE Creative Network and AccessHE Online. The next meeting of the AccessHE Steering Group will take place in July where we look forward to developing a new Strategy for AccessHE to take us into the new academic year and beyond.
