Care Experienced and Estranged Students Forum
Chair: Liz Routhorn, Widening Participation Manager, London Metropolitan University.
This forum provides a consultative assembly for those staff from AccessHE member HEIs working to support progression to HE for learners from care backgrounds and/or those estranged from their families. This includes those young people from unaccompanied asylum seeker backgrounds.
In 2017-18, the forum delivered a Life After University event (2019’s event here) for care-experienced and estranged students currently in HE, shared good practice on effective collaboration with virtual schools and local authorities, explored recent work to support forced migrant students into and through HE and developed knowledge around data-sharing agreements and voluntary sector work in this area.
