Introducing Michelle – our new AccessHE Uni Connect Outreach Coordinator

December 5, 2019

In November 2019, AccessHE was delighted to welcome Michelle Anson – our new Uni Connect Outreach Coordinator – to the team. Michelle is our fourth and final (for now!) new joiner to AccessHE’s London Uni Connect initiative. Alongside Beth, Geraldine and Tayler, Michelle will be working with schools and partners to coordinate the outreach hub offering across London. Get to know Michelle below.

Michelle has most recently been working for the education charity Teach First and brings to AccessHE 5 years’ experience working in graduate recruitment, recruiting and selecting graduates to teach children in the areas of greatest need across England and Wales. Through her role at Teach First, Michelle has gained experience of working with schools and teachers to develop new partnerships, and is looking forward to working with schools in her new role to support students to access Higher Education. Prior to that, Michelle worked in the HR team at the Royal British Legion. She has studied for an MA in English studies at MMU before this, and did her dissertation on the role of hip hop in politics! Michelle is passionate about social mobility through education, and has volunteered with the Hackney Pirates, working with learners to develop confidence and resilience in literacy, and has mentored groups of year 10 pupils with Future Frontiers to map out career pathways and routes to further education. She is also Vice Chair of Governors at a maintained nursery school in Newham and believes in the importance of fair access across the student lifecycle.
