Uni Connect (formerly known as NCOP)

AccessHE has been awarded funding to deliver part of Uni Connect (formerly known as the National Collaborative Outreach Programme – NCOP), an Office for Students-funded project, in London. We undertake this work as part of the London Consortium, together with Aimhigher London and Linking London. The consortium aims to increase awareness amongst schools and college learners of the opportunities available in higher education, and to support them to make informed decisions about their futures.

We do this in the following ways:

  • We facilitate the delivery of HE progression sessions to learners in Year 9 upwards
  • We offer guidance for teachers and advisers on the outreach activity available in their local area
  • We help schools and colleges to access outreach activity that suits their specific needs
  • We bring together the various local partners involved in HE outreach in London and in that way help to foster greater collaboration

AccessHE leads the outreach hub work with schools in North London. In partnership with various HE providers in the capital, AccessHE delivers programmes of outreach activities to North London schools in areas identified by government data as having high social deprivation and lower than expected numbers of learners progressing to higher education based on GCSE attainment. With the extension of funding until 2021, this support offer has been expanded to include a dedicated team of Outreach Coordinators who engage directly with schools around their outreach needs and connect them with relevant local activity.
