Capital Access Project – Year 8 Expos

March 11, 2016

Four Capital Access Project HEIs (London Metropolitan University, Middlesex University, Royal Veterinary College and the University of Hull) met last month to plan the various interactive workstations they will be delivering at April’s STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Expo specifically targeted at students on FSM/PPG. Hosted by London Metropolitan University, the event will see over 200 Year 8s from schools in Camden, Hackney, Islington and Brent take part in activities delivered by experts including UV lamp & slime experiments, robotics, forensics/DNA and the secret life of the big cat. The event aims to inform Year 8s of the various pathways to science careers and during the day they will get the chance to meet some scientists.

Further themed Expos will be planned over the coming weeks with the other project HEIs, covering various topics such as STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics), university careers / progression routes and will offer practical taster sessions of degree programmes focusing on Arts and Humanities.
