The Student Ambassador Forum provides a discussion and planning space for staff who run Student Ambassador programmes.
- To exchange and develop good practice;
- To maximise opportunities for collaboration, partnerships, networking and information sharing;
- To provide opportunities to support the development of student ambassadors’ skills sets.
E-communities of practice
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, AccessHE has cancelled all scheduled in-person events, meetings and activity indefinitely. We see this period of virtual engagement as an opportunity to extend the ways in which the Forum can support members and partners through virtual “communities of practice”. As such, the Forum will meet for the remainder of the 2020-21 academic year virtually.

The Forum held the 2018 Student Ambassador Conference, developed an employability resource to help ambassadors identify and articulate the skills they are developing in their roles, updated the AccessHE Student Ambassador Handbook template and Ambassador Training Standards, shared good practice in ambassador recruitment and training strategies, and continues to run an active Jiscmail list for questions and feedback.
2020 and beyond
The Forum launched the inaugural AccessHE Student Ambassador Employability Project, centred on skills development, employability and outreach/community value creation. Five HEI members have participated in the project, which is strongly aligned to Office for Students’ targets on student outcomes and progression. Outside of this project, we continue to share best practice around ambassador engagement and evaluation of schemes, invite external speakers and develop collaborative projects to deliver in the next academic year and beyond, including a revise Student Ambassador Conference.
