Over the summer, the AccessHE London Uni Connect team has been busy preparing for the delivery of sessions in our Uni Connect programme for the current academic year. We will be working with up to 10 schools in the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham and Havering. Target students from Years 10-13 will be taking part in a programme with a variety of aspiration and attainment raising activities delivered in conjunction with our member HEIs. Activities will include subject taster sessions, campus visits, summer schools and mentoring sessions with trained Student Ambassadors.
For this year’s programme we have signed up to use the Kudos programme from Cascaid, to deliver careers-related IAG sessions to the learners taking part in our programme. We want to enable our Uni Connect students to think about careers they are interested in and make it easier for them to explore the pathways into those careers and how higher level learning fits into that.
To kick start the programme we are launching it at events at the further education colleges in both boroughs, with students and their families invited to learn more about Uni Connect and hear from a range of organisations involved with our programme, including our HEI partners, the Student Loans Company and National Citizen Service.
We will be keeping our supporters updated on the progress of the programme and exciting elements of it as the year continues. If you would like to find out more at the present moment, please contact email@example.com.
