Care Experienced and Estranged Students (CEES) Forum

This Action Forum meeting will (likely) feature:

1.IAG coffee morning for kinships, guardians and foster carers – 12/02 debrief and future events

2.Engaging with local authorities (LA) and virtual schools (VS)

-Best practice discussion/presentation understanding the LA offer and how HEIs can support LAs. We invite and welcome offers from local authorities to run a short presentation (up to 30 minutes) to the Forum as part of this item. Please contact Tanyel.kazim@londonhigher.ac.uk and m.odinma@uel.ac.uk if interested.

3.Getting it right for care experienced students in HE (TBC)
Best practice discussion/research presentation with Hanan Hauari, co-author of ‘Getting it right for care experienced students in Higher Education’, a new UCL report.

4.Project best practice discussion
Members to share best practice project successes and innovation relating to CEES student access, success and progression. Members are kindly asked to prepare notes in advance to contribute to the discussion.

5.Estranged students focus: Finance and Accommodation
-Thematic best practice discussion focused on estranged students.
-Estranged students blog update.

6.Life After University 2020 – signposting and engagement strategy
