November 30, 2018

On Monday 19th November 2018, AccessHE, Linking London and Aim Higher London collaborated to host a joint London Uni Connect Careers Fair at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Centre. The event was aimed at students in Years 10 – 13, giving them the opportunity to find out from different organisations how to approach their futures. The day consisted of a mixture of workshops and exhibitions, with over 25 exhibitors including universities, employers and organisations such as PwC, Transport for London (TfL), Student Loans Company, M&G Prudential, Auto Trader, Atkins Global and many more.

The Institute of Civil Engineers delivering an interactive workshop on flood defences.

During the day, students had the opportunity to take part in several activities and workshops such as the Institute of Civil Engineers fight the flood activity, where students raced against the clock to repair flood defences to save their Lego town. Generation Medics likewise had an interactive stand with a pop-up hospital. The exhibitors used their stand and workshop as an opportunity to inform students about the 350+ possible careers in the NHS and explore pathways into health careers and the application routes into them. TfL and PwC likewise presented very insightful workshops focusing on internal job opportunities and the requirements needed to access them.

This event was overall a great opportunity for students to gain further advice and guidance on a variety of different career pathways from experts and professionals in the field as well as information on options for further and higher education study.
