Introducing Emily – our new London Programmes and Communications Coordinator

November 30, 2020

We were delighted to welcome Emily Dixon to the team this month. Emily joins us as London Programmes and Communications Coordinator, overseeing the work of our Action Forums and leading on communications with AccessHE members and partners

Emily comes to AccessHE from the Education office of Shakespeare’s Globe, where she coordinated outreach projects with a wide range of education institutions – from networks of Manchester primary schools to California universities to London dance and drama conservatoires. At the Globe, Emily worked on designing projects and resources for targeted and bespoke education programmes for young people, and she is excited to bring this experience to AccessHE’s work with HE providers.

Emily’s access and widening participation work began at university where she sat on English faculty advisory committees advocating for disabled students’ needs in course design, and then went on to work for a year in the Balliol College, Oxford outreach and administration offices. In 2020, she has also been tutoring to help key stage one students settle back into the curriculum after Covid-19’s disruption, and is currently teaching Chinese secondary-age students to prepare them for international university applications.

Emily is passionate about equity in education and is excited to work with AccessHE’s members supporting widening participation. Please get in touch with her at emily.dixon@londonhigher.ac.uk if you have any questions about the forums or about AccessHE projects and communications.
