Introducing Beth – our new AccessHE Uni Connect Outreach Coordinator

December 5, 2019

In November, AccessHE was delighted to welcome Beth Hayden – our new Uni Connect Outreach Coordinator – to the team. Beth, alongside Michelle, Geraldine and Tayler, will be working with schools and partners to coordinate the outreach hub offering across London. Get to know Beth below!

Beth will be overseeing the London Uni Connect North Hub area, which contains the boroughs of Hackney, Haringey, Waltham Forest and Enfield.

Beth joins AccessHE from Research in Higher Education executive search. Here, she gained a strong understanding of HE structures and policy and contributed to equality and diversity agendas at the firm. One such initiative was a BAME Leadership Network for mid-career academics in order to address the marked disparities between the ethnicities of UK scholars. For over a year, Beth has been a volunteer with the Hackney Pirates – a charity which strives to improve the reading, writing and confidence of children who are falling behind at school and have less advantages – and hopes to build this relationship as part of her Hub work. The role of local enterprise and charities in the London Uni Connect interests her greatly, and she will seek to establish long-term and effective links between these HEI stakeholders in the North Hub area. Alongside her Uni Connect Outreach Coordinator post, Beth is an event organiser at the Academy of Ideas – a free-thinking society which presents challenging and provoking topics of debate. She organises regular events for Living Freedom (a branch of the Academy) and is the youngest member of the Academy’s Education Forum Committee. Beth is a frequent public speaker on matters from feminism to human rights, and coaches public speaking to individuals on a freelance basis.
