Update from our Schools Strategy Forum

March 31, 2017

The AccessHE Schools Strategy Forum met this Wednesday at London South Bank University and was attended by representatives from schools, networks and collaborative groups across London. The topics of discussion included how higher education and schools can work together to raise attainment and attendees were asked to give their feedback to some of the ideas that emerged from the Higher Education Advisers’ and Teachers’ Conference 2016. Those present also had the chance to hear from London South Bank University about their partnership with the Saturday Club Trust, to begin in September 2017. This will give children from local schools the chance to attend Saturday clubs, exposing them to a wide range of subjects, with a focus on interdisciplinary learning. The possibility of inviting representatives from schools to attend AccessHE Action Forums was also raised at the meeting and discussions in this area will continue. The next meeting of the AccessHE Schools Strategy Forum will be in July 2017 and will be hosted at UCL.
