Futures Week
Futures Week is a unique model that draws on the AccessHE network to deliver a borough-wide programme of careers and higher education information, advice and guidance activity. It can be delivered to groups of 3+ schools across a single week and is therefore a highly efficient approach to delivering outreach at scale.
The programme offers a week of activities for Key Stage 4 students, introducing them to the diverse range of post-16 options and pathways available to help so they can make informed decisions about their future. The following topics are covered across the week:
- Introduction to University: Gain valuable insights from local higher education providers and current students as they share their firsthand experiences.
- Introduction to Apprenticeships and T Levels: Explore different levels of apprenticeships, subject areas, industries, and application procedures. Gain insights into T Levels for a comprehensive understanding of this career pathway.
- NHS Careers: Introduction to various career opportunities within the NHS in London.
- ‘Step Into Your Greatness’ motivational workshops: Bespoke, motivational workshops designed specifically for students at risk of NEET.
The week ends with an education roundtable, where local stakeholders are brought together by AccessHE to discuss higher education progression priorities, strategise for the coming year, and identify collaborative initiatives.
The program has been expressly developed for schools with high proportions of students from socio-economically deprived households but which receive few HE outreach interventions compared to other schools in their local authority area.
