The Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Forum provides a termly meeting for AccessHE members to explore 'what works' when it comes to widening access and participation in the London context.


    • To keep Members up to date with the latest London-focused research into widening access and participation.
    • To exchange and develop good practice relating to evidencing the impact of access and participation.
    • To produce collaborative research and other resources to support Members with reporting in Access and Participation Plans (APPs).
    • To advocate to policy-makers on issues affecting London HEIs.

The forum developed a resource-sharing webpage, contributed to an AccessHE report on the use of POLAR and other measures of ‘disadvantage’ in the London context, facilitated a dialogue around effective evaluation with colleagues from OFFA/OfS, and shared good practice in evaluating attainment-raising activities within schools.

2020 and beyond

The forum continues to meet virtually in 2020-21. A dedicated MS Teams channel has been set up to support the forum’s work and to enable Members to engage between meetings. To be added to the Teams group, please contact us.

Meetings in the year ahead will showcase AccessHE research, and research conducted by our partners. These will be used as a springboard for discussion about increasing the impact of widening access work in London. As in 2019-20, when we welcomed speakers such as TASO, the Brilliant Club and NEON, the forum will continue to engage external partners in its activities.
