AccessHE Student Ambassador Conference 2018 recap

March 22, 2018

On Wednesday 14 March, selected student ambassadors from six different AccessHE members joined the 2018 Student Ambassador Conference, kindly hosted by the University for the Creative Arts at their Epsom campus and coordinated by the AccessHE Student Ambassador forum.

Now in its fourth year as a conference for ambassadors, by ambassadors, the event offers student ambassadors the opportunity to meet and learn from each other, with students delivering workshops and sharing their own stories and experiences. Attendees on the day joined a workshop delivered by Dan Arthur, a University of Sussex ambassador, on how to create an engaging Subject Taster session, and were also able to participate in a discussion led by four current and former Kingston University London students on how ambassador work has impacted on their work, education and life.

At the end of the afternoon, students were also able to to hear from the UCA Careers and Employability team about career planning tools and how to identify and articulate the skills they’ll develop through their roles to employers after graduating.

Feedback from the event has been extremely positive – many said the event had boosted their confidence and motivation for ambassador work, helped them understand the tools they can use to plan their careers, and enjoyed being able to meet and learn from other ambassadors. We hope to make the event bigger and better for its fifth anniversary in 2019; if you’re interested in hosting this event in February 2019, please get in touch with sam.turner@londonhigher.ac.uk.
