Progression to the creative arts research

October 24, 2016

Following the launch of the AccessHE Creative Network, we are doing a piece of research to investigate whether the social background of students in London has an impact on progression to arts and creative subjects in higher education.

The research has already identified that people from a BAME background are underrepresented on arts and creative courses. In order to investigate this further, we will be running focus groups with students and young people falling into this category to find out their views on doing an arts degree.

The research hopes to contribute to the range of existing work articulating the case for supporting HE progression to creative subjects for those from disadvantaged groups.

The final report and the findings will be launched at our AccessHE Creative Network Launch event on 30 November. Details of the event can be found here: https://www.accesshe.ac.uk/events/creative-launch/.
